Lake Shaftsbury State Park – 12 minutes

This is a beautiful state park, just up the road from us. (Weekends in the summer are very busy there.)

Lake Paran – 10 minutes

This is a small lake in the heart of North Bennington. There is a swimming area open to the public.

Woodford State Park – 25 minutes

This is a very peaceful, secluded state park. There is a small beach for swimming and boats for rent. Walking trails as well.

Arlington Covered Bridge on the Battenkill – 17 minutes

This is a local swimming hole along the Battenkill river. Follow directions to Covered Bridge Road in Arlington.

Kelley Stand Road – 25 minutes

This is a remote, winding road that follows a mountain river up into the Green Mountain National Forest. It is absolutely beautiful, and truly, and epically frigid.

Danby Slides – 45 minutes

Natural water slides y’all!

Warren Falls – 2 hours

At 2 hours away, this isn’t someplace you can pop out for a swim, but it is one of my favorite places in Vermont, so I have to include it on a list of swimming holes. It’s a series of carved, cascading deep pools that are a magical emerald green color. Put this on your Vermont check list for sure. (Try to go on a weekday if you can.)
